Whether you're a fashionista, a music junkie or a culture vulture, New York is bound to appear on your holiday radar so here's how you can get the most out of your New York holiday.

For fashionistas New York is heaven. Any girl who has seen an episode of Sex & the City knows that fashion is a hot topic in New York and that fashion week is the week to see and be seen. Unfortunately for us mere mortals, getting into the shows is nigh on impossible but that won't stop the crowds flocking to catch a glimpse of their favourite designer. You can also stroll up Fifth Avenue, visit Bloomingdales, Barneys or, if your credit card is willing visit the Manolo Blahnik store.

For those looking to tap into the music scene there are lots of parades and festivals held throughout the year. The Summerstage at Central Park shows off the best of Jazz, St Patrick's Day is the best to indulge in some Irish folk music and ElectricZoo is perfect for those looking for a bit of funky house or electronic!

For the foodies amongst us, New York is a mecca of trendy dining, haute cuisine and fast food. The first thing many New Yorkers chow down on every day is a bagel and some of the popular are those from Murray's and H&H. Next up is the iconic hot dog, sold from vendors through the city and a great mad game snack should get a chance to see the Yankees. A visit to Chinatown will tantalise your taste buds with delectable dumplings, dim sum and whole host of classic and contemporary dishes. For those with cash to spend, Jean-Georges offer an array of dishes to suit every palate whilst Nobu is sometimes frequented by celebrities and serves sumptuous Japanese cuisine.

Any tourist knows that some sights just have to be seen and Lady Liberty, the Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal are just that.

Don't forget to visit Central Park and wander between the trees or take a romantic carriage ride through this magnificent Park. You can also get a bird eye views on one of the many helicopter rides that go over the park. Or visit Niagara Falls from the American side and get close and a little damp on a Maid of the Mist voyage.

Enjoy the exhilarating tempo of this urban jungle and make the big apple work for you on your New York holidays.
