BH Exclusive: Boys Hall plans to add to bed stock with ‘luxury cabins’
Boys Hall, a restaurant with rooms in Kent, has submitted a planning application to add a stable of luxury cabins to its grounds.
Owner Brad Lomas told BH they plan to build nine luxury cabins at the property, which sits on just under four acres of land.
If approved, the cabins will be built around a pond area and act as an extension of the hotel rooms in the main house, with some featuring private hot tubs and verandahs.
The new rooms will be built using local oak, which blends into the natural environment and matches the materials used within Boys Hall’s restaurant.
Owner Brad Lomas said the local community and council appear receptive to the plans, but labelled the arduous planning process a “nightmare”.
He told BH: “There is a lot of red tape. The planning application we have at the moment, it’s coming up to 12 months next month.
“It’s incredibly frustrating, especially because as a small business owner, you are putting investment into it. You’re trying to grow, you’re trying to make more jobs.”
Lomas said the idea for the luxury cabins came about partially because of calls from local MPs and Visit Kent, who have called for better quality bed stock within the county.
Boys Hall initially opened as a restaurant last summer, while 7 ensuite bedrooms followed in December, with three more on the way.
The Grade-II listed site was originally built in 1616 and has been renovated under husband and wife team, Brad and Kristie Lomas.
Brad was the former operations director of East London Pub Co, and Kristie is the founder of Drink, Shop & Do as well as Keystone Crescent members club in London’s King’s Cross.
The hotel restaurant is headed up by chef Shane Pearson, who has previously worked at cult London restaurants Blacklock and Caravan. The menu champions local produce and evolves with the seasons.
