Best Beaches In Galveston, Texas

Texas probably isn’t the first place that a lot of people think of when it comes to finding great beaches, but maybe it should be. Galveston alone has 32 miles of beaches, perfect for a quick dip in the ocean, a picnic lunch on the sand and even surfing if you’re feeling a little adventurous. There are also family friendly beaches, beaches that are perfect for fishing, and places where you can go for a little nature walking.

East Beach

Start with East Beach where you’ll find the biggest and best parties in the world. This is one of the only beaches in the area where alcohol is completely legal, and some even say it’s encouraged. The beach hosts parties, bikini contests, and live concerts. They have space for 7,000 cars and admission is just $8 per car. Even if you just want to people watch, it’s well worth the price.

Palm Beach at Moody Gardens

Maybe you need something a little more kid friendly with less of a spring break atmosphere. In that case try Palm Beach at Moody Gardens. This beach feels more like something you would find in a tropical resort than Texas, but it’s also something that your kids will love as much as you do. The Yellow Submarine, with dozens of toys is something your kids won’t soon forget.

Sea Gulf Shores Beach Pocket Park 1

Sea Gulf Shores Beach Pocket Park 1 is probably more what you’re expecting from a Texas beach. A lifeguard is on duty during its daily hours of operation, plus you’ll find acres of sandy beaches, bathrooms, and lots of parking. One look at the beautiful views and clear blue water, and you might never want to leave.

Park 3

There’s also Park 3 with 10 acres of beaches. This beach is good for families who don’t necessarily need more than the water and sand, or couples looking for a romantic getaway. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, or grab lunch from the snack bar and find a place to sit. You’ll also find restrooms, and showers to clean off all that sand.

Galveston Island State Park

Galveston Island State Park is the place to go if you want to try camping right next to the ocean. The Park also has a mountain biking park, camping hookups, bird tours and nature trails in addition to acres of sandy beaches. If you prefer hotels to camping, you can still head over for a day of nature filled fun. If you have kids in the family, try Stewart Beach. This family friendly beach has everything from bathrooms to a souvenir shop, and more than enough activities to keep you and your kids busy.

Galveston has every kind of beach imaginable, from rowdy spring break type beaches, to relaxing places where you can take the kids.
